Obituary of Muriel I. Wood

Muriel (Hamer) Wood, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 1, 2021. Mrs. Wood was born in Passaic, NJ the daughter of the late Ernest and the late Anna (Iandoli) Hamer. She lived in Wayne and was formerly of Totowa. She was employed by American Cyanamid in Wayne as an Administrative Assistant before retiring. Muriel was a kind and caring woman, with the biggest heart. Her and her husband moved to Pines Lake, NJ in 1962, where she was an active member of the Pines Lake Community. She enjoyed volunteering for seasonal events. She particularly loved being a member of the Garden Club and their yearly trips to the Philadelphia Flower Show. She was also an avid theater goer and lifelong subscriber to The Papermill Playhouse. In her free time she volunteered at The Depot Gift Shop, with her friends. She was the devoted mother to Robert E. Wood and his wife Alice of Wall NJ and Elizabeth Wood of Wayne NJ. Muriel's pride and joy were her three grandchildren: Stephanie McKay and her husband Brian, Casey Dugan and her husband Joe, and Robert W. Wood. She was predeceased by her beloved husband William F. Wood and her sister Phyllis Hamer. Muriel was loved by both family and friends and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on be Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 1-4 PM. The memorial service will be on Saturday at 3:00 pm. Cremation was Private.
