Obituary of Amalia Lezcano-Prieto

Amalia ''Piti'' Lezcano-Prieto, age 59, died Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Amalia was born in Florida, Camagüey, Cuba, the daughter of the late Lucilo and Amalia (Beyra) Lezcano. She lived in Nutley. Amalia was a life long educator. She was a special education teacher employed by the Deron School in Montclair and previously a kindergarten to 2nd grade teacher at St. Anthony of Padua in Passaic. Amalia was a former member of the Liceo Cubano in Passaic.

Piti was an avid gardener and painter and appreciated the simple things in life like a drive in the car with her husband and playing the penny slots at the casino.

She is survived by her husband: Victor J. Prieto; her mother Amalia (Beyra) Lezcano, three sons: Anthony and his wife Lisa Romero, Andrew and his wife Kaitlyn Romero and Adam Romero, her sister : Salo and her husband Guille Pena and three brothers: Diego and his wife Lynn Lezcano, Pepe and his wife Odalys Lezcano and Chicho and his wife Doris Lezcano, five grandchildren, Alexis, Aidan, Nathan, Harrison and Isla and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Lucilo Lezcano.

Visiting hours will be Friday, September 17, 2021 from 4-8 PM.

The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke, Wayne and will be Celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo.

Interment will be in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
