As we grow older, we accumulate regrets. One of my greatest regrets is in having lost contact with my true friend, John Pennington. John and I worked together for some years in the Community Video program for the city of Somerville, MA. He was one of the few people I’ve known who could harbor decided political opinions without rancor, without the foaming-at-the-mouth tribalism so prevalent today. He fully engaged in all aspects of his life — his art, music, literature, love, laughter. I have missed him for years; and only just today, randomly, find that he died last year. I wish him and his family and easy peace. Go gently, my friend

John was a loving and kind person and I am honored to have known for over 40 years. He was commited to making the world a better place for us. Always a friend, supportive, and funny. He was unique. I miss him, his smile, his words and his heart. My heartfelt condolences go to Susan and her and John's families.

John had somewhere to go. He couldn't say, and he couldn't stay. He didn't tell us. And who knows when that time comes and where our spirit goes, maybe it stays with those we leave behind. John never stopped hoping or helping it was in his nature. When I first knew him he offered to fix my Dad's lamp that had been broken for years. He took it home and to my great surprise brought it back the very next day brand new. It was his nature. And he was unnerved by those who would not help, who would not listen and came to know to forgive them for they know not what they do. Does that sound familiar to you? He was no Jesus -I had a drink with him! But he was trying! I think if there is a God, that she may keep him close and give him peace. The Dacey

John was a person of great integrity, and he expressed his values in actions, not just words.
