Obituary of Helen DiStefano

Helen (Russo) DiStefano, age 99, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Morristown Medical Center. Mrs. DiStefano was born April 10, 1922, in Hoboken, NJ the daughter of the late Anthony and the late Matilda (Bufis) Russo, she was the youngest of 12 children. Helen grew up in Hoboken and lived in Brooklyn, NY and later moved to Union City, then West New York, Wayne and finally to Montville. She was employed by St Joseph's High School, West New York, NJ as a cafeteria manager for over 20 years. Mrs. DiStefano was a former parishioner of St. Augustine's RC Church, Union City. She was devoted to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini all of her life. Helen is survived by her devoted son Joseph and his wife Diane, grandson, Joseph James and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1960. Visiting hours will be Friday, July 3, 2021 from 8:30-9:30 AM. The funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:00 am at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 17 Pompton Ave, Pompton Lakes. Entombment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
