Obituary of Filomena Gallo

Filomena (D'Ovidio) Gallo, age 94, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Hospice of New Jersey, Wayne. Mrs. Gallo was born March 23, 1920 in Italy, the daughter of the late Cosimo and the late Elvira D'Ovidio. She lived in Wayne and was a homemaker. Mrs. Gallo was a member of Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church. Mrs. Gallo is survived by her beloved daughter Antoniette and her husband Robert Scholing; her loving granddaughters, Rita Steel and Tricia George; her cherished great-grandchildren, Madison, Marla, Olivia and Andrew; and her dear sister Velia and her husband Ernie Mantione. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent in 2000. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church, 630 Valley Rd., Wayne, and will be celebrated by Msgr. Peter Doody. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Gallo's name are requested to be made to her favorite charity, the St. Anthony Orphanage.
