Obituary of Harriette M. Peters

died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 14, 2021 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Harriette was born in New York, NY, the daughter of the late A. Gerard Peters, MD and the late Joan (Bassler) Peters. She was a graduate of both Syracuse University and New York University. Harriette spent her professional life financing commercial property for middle tier lenders throughout the northeast. She later in life returned to school and earned a Master’s degree in theology from Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology at Seton Hall University. Harriette was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation RC Church in Wayne, and for many years a Eucharistic Minister bringing Communion to the sick and homebound. She leaves behind those who helped her to navigate this difficult journey, Dr and Mrs. Richard Oliver, James Barton, Susan Bull, Mary Rose Arabi, Joan Crowley, Joyce Kulik, Jennifer Pannell and Lena Mettle. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 10:15 a.m. at St Bonaventure RC Church, 174 Ramsey St, Paterson with the burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harriette’s name may be made to your favorite charity.
