Obituary of Mae VanDam
Mae (Andersen) VanDam, age 85, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 29, 2020. Mrs. VanDam was born in Paterson, the daughter of the late Lawrence and the late Anna (DeLong) Andersen. She lived in Monroe, NJ and was a retired insurance producer employed by O'Gorman & Young in Montville. Prior to that, she was an elementary school teacher in North Haledon. Mrs. VanDam was a member of the Marble Collegiate Church in New York and their Prayer Circle. She enjoyed taking tap dancing classes and baking NY style cheesecake which she was known for. Mrs. VanDam had a great love for her family. She also liked to spend hours at the mall, just browsing.
Mrs. VanDam is survived by her beloved husband Delano VanDam; her children son Gregg and his wife Barbara Warhurst, and daughter Thaila Warhurst; her cherished granddaughters Christina and her husband Anthony Sellitti, Ashley, and Brooke; great-grandchildren Gianna and Anthony; and her dear sisters, Nola Knight and Doris Peterson.
Friends are welcome to attend the visiting hours on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home followed by a graveside service and interment at 12:30 p.m. at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, 295 Totowa Road in Totowa.
