Obituary of John DiDonna
John DiDonna, aged 82 years, passed away peacefully on Monday July 27, 2020. He was born in Mola DiBari, Italy, to the late Giovanbattista and the late Angela (Nitti) DiDonna. He had two siblings, Joe & Francis, and was the youngest of the three. At the age of 8 he and his siblings moved to the United States. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY and decided to raise his own family there later in life.
John graduated Grady High School in 1956 in Brooklyn. He later went on to serve in the army, where he was stationed in Korea as a cook. After his service, he then worked for the Surge Elevator Company for many years until he retired.
John married his wife Iris (Rosenfeld) in 1969 and was devoted to her for 46 loving years until she passed away in 2015.
John loved going to the beach, listening to music, and watching the Mets. He loved spending the holidays with his family and getting to eat many of his favorite dishes. He spent his morning at the Passaic County Senior Center where he made many friends and enjoyed going to everyday. In the afternoons he looked forward to sitting outside his apartment complex, Siena Village, and catching up with his neighbors.
He leaves behind his loving eldest daughter Carol, her husband Bill, and their two daughters Victoria (20), and Natalie (16); as well as his adoring younger daughter Susan, her husband Brian, and their twins Brendan and Niamh (7).
John was selfless, caring, and kind. He adored his family and grandkids making sure to never miss a game, birthday, or school event. No matter the circumstances he faced, he always gave what he could to those he loved. In his memory and honor we have decided to create the "B&N COLLEGE FUND" which will support Brendan and Niamh through their future college experience. We know he would have wanted to watch them succeed, and hope that he is always remembered for his kindness and generosity to others.
