Obituary of Julia McMullen

Julia Kay (Judy) McMullen, 78, of Orrstown,PA, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, NJ. Julia was cremated and her remains reside with the family. During this time of crisis, there will be no public service. Julia was born in Newville, PA to Harley Bruce Smith and Ruthie Elizabeth Smith on February 6, 1942. She was a graduate of Big Spring High School class of 1960. She went on to school at Humboldt Institute Airline Secretarial School studying teletype in Minneapolis, MN. Additionally, Julia earned a BS in Nursing from Harrisburg Area Community College in 1980. She was a nurse for Graham Medical Clinic in Newville, PA and Dr. Kampfe in Carlisle, PA. Julia worked as a Charge Nurse for Menno Haven in Chambersburg, PA and Woodland Park in Orbisonia, PA. She enjoyed traveling, the beach, woodworking, and gardening. She was involved in Lions Club activities. Julia is survived by her daughters Jana Doyle of Wanaque, NJ and Michelle Linn of Newburg, PA. Julia has a sister Linda Will of Newburg, PA. Julia was grandmother to Drew Linn of Orrstown, PA and Dylan Linn of Newburg, PA. Julia was also blessed to be great grandmother to 2 boys and 1 girl. Julia was aunt to Sharon Wireman and Shanese Armstrong, both from McConnellsburg, PA. She is also survived by her former husband, Graydon McMullen of Greencastle, PA. Julia was preceded in death by her former husband, McCarrell Doyle Jr in 1973, and her parents Harley (Bruce) Smith and Ruthie (Ruth) Smith.
