Dear Willa, Today on Easter Sunday I remembered you again and how our families gathered together to celebrate and pray as Catholics on an important spiritual day commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Those were good times we shared as kids, while our Moms cooked wonderful Italian food for us all, filling the house with laughter, warmth, and love as we played together. I can still recall how you taught me a simple song on the piano when I was only about 8 or 9 years old and enjoyed watching how you brought the sounds of classical music into the living room of the old house (we called the Castle because of the 2 turrets). You always had a sweet heart and kind spirit then and as an adult and I loved seeing you laugh and smile. I miss you Willa, and it's still hard to believe that you have passed over into the Kingdom of God. I'll always include you and your family in my prayers and the Priests here in Spokane said a Mass for you. I hope to see you again when it is my turn to come home. Until then I'll cherish the memories and photos I have of those days, reminders of the important things that keep love alive in our lives.

My condolences go out to the entire family. I had Ms. Alvarez over 30 something years ago and she was a great inspiration. Some of my high school students have had her and will miss her greatly. God bless.

You broke my fear of singing In front of a crowd and encouraged me to shine bright while doing so! Thank you for believing!! You will be missed and forever in my heart! I still speak of you and this news was not easy to hear. Rest In Peace Mrs. Alvarez. Class Of 2000 Concert Choir! ♥️

I will forever be grateful for your musical influence. I loved singing and music. You encouraged me to stay with the band and do glee club, to become more proficient in music theory. In High School I started to sing and perform professionally and I came to visit you, I sang at Madison Square Garden, and Canegie hall, and you were so happy. I went on to college and majored in musical theater, and sang with Syracuse Symphony, and also at NJPAC w the NJ Symphony, as well as numerous theater shows. All because of your inspiration and introduction to music. I may not perform professionally anymore, but my love and passion for music and singing will always be a part of my life. You inspired so many people. I may went on to sing arias and broadway songs, but Don Gato Was a Cat, will always be my favorite song that you taught us. RIP.

I remember Willa trying to teach me the beginnings of piano in Memorial High School Music Room in the shadows of Dr Levy and Bill Caiazza when we were about 17 years old, 45 years ago. I gave up quickly, Willa laughing, me realizing how difficult it was. We had tons of fun playing board games with Jim, Mike, Liz, and Willa, and others in her basement. We all took regular rides to New York State to eat pancakes on highway 9 just so we all had something to do together. We all were brothers and sisters and were definitely kindred souls. Peace and love to anyone who knew and loved Willa. She was a blessed soul. I love you Mike and wish you and your family warmth in this very difficult time.
