I can’t believe I’m seeing this. My name is Brian (Murph) Murphy. I met Jim freshman year at Fairleigh Dickinson. We both played guitar, we became very very good friends. He got me into the Grateful Dead, of which I am forever grateful. We would play every Friday night, usually at his buddy Doug Albrecht’s house. After many years of talking, we lost touch..I did contact his brother Steve once to see if I could make contact. I am so so sorry for the Davies family, for his children and siblings. I always loved Jim, we had many crazy times together. I really don’t know what to say.. I guess, if the thunder don’t get ya the lightning will...
God bless you old friend..

Didn't Really know him well, but he was the father of a very close friend of mine whom I know loved him very much, which made him more important than he could have ever known. It was fun watching or listening to him and Kevin go back and forth; took me back to my old times at home.

Jim was the brother who got me into rock and roll music at a very young age. He took me to my very first concert when I was a kid, the Bee Gees at MSG. We had the last row at MSG. The seats were so bad that my brother bought some fancy power lens for his camera and took pictures of Barry Gibb, who looked like an ant. I was in heaven that night in one of the worse seats in the house. Later he took me to see Peter Frampton at the Capital Theatre in Passaic and numerous other concerts over the years. We argued a lot over what band was better; his - the Grateful Dead or mine - Jersey Shore Rock and Roll. In later years we always talked about whatever shows I went too and he would download whatever shows he found on line and burn me CDs since I was technologically challenged. Jim was my fellow rock and roller of my four brothers and my protector when I was very young (Jim is the only one of my older brothers who never pretended I was a space alien and he never locked me in the basement tied to a chair with the lights out). Jim also took me to the worse concert of my life - The Grateful Dead (sorry Jim) - they played ONE SONG for SIX HOURS! Jim is up there now in Rock and Roll Heaven with his favorites Jerry Garcia and Jimi Hendrix and all the others. Thanks and always much love to my brother Jim for our common joy - shared obsession - of rock and roll music. I hope you are playing your Fender with all your favorites now and keeping fingerprints and other smudges off your guitars. Keep on Truckin’ Jim in Heaven!
