Obituary of Helen J. Corbo

Helen J. (Miller) Corbo, age 103, died Thursday, August 25, 2016 at home. Helen was born in New Haven, CT the daughter of the late Leon and the late Tekla (Rusyn) Miller. She lived in Pompton Lakes and was formerly of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ for 32 years, Stuart, Florida for 24 Years. She was employed by Hackensack Hospital as a Private Duty RN. Mrs. Corbo was a member of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church. Mrs. Corbo was a dedicated registered nurse - She was graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Jersey City in 1936. She worked as a Private Duty nurse for 40 years in Hackensack Hospital in New Jersey. She was frequently requested by patients prior to surgery and was fondly called "Mrs. Goody". A longtime resident of Hasbrouck Heights, she was an active member of Corpus Christi Parish and Past-president of the Rosary Society. After residing for 32 years on Berkshire Road, Mrs. Corbo and her husband retired to Stuart, Florida. There, she was an active member of St. Joseph Parish, President of the Altar Society and member of the Council of Catholic Women for 25 years. Mrs. Corbo also helped in her community of Pines Lake Gardens, taking blood pressures and organizing a Bridge Club. She stayed active into her 90's, attending water exercise at her pool and walking. She is survived by her devoted children: Marilynn "Mac" and her husband Harry Lane, Beverly and her husband Randal Richert, Michael and his wife Joan and George Jr. and his wife Francine, Cherished grandmother of six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her Loving husband of 71 Years, George A. Corbo, Sr., Three brothers: Rudolph, Zigmunt and Henry and her sisters: Theresa, Agnes, And Leonora. The funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September. 6, 2016 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke., Wayne and will be Celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo. Cremation was private. Internment of Cremains will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hackensack following the Mass.
