Obituary of Paris A. Petritsis

Paris A. Petritsis, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at home. Mr. Petrisis was born in Piraeus, Greece, the son of the late Antonio and Efitimia (Philipou) Petritsis. He came to the United States in the 1940's and lived in Queens, NY. At the age of 17, he was employed as a busboy and dishwasher working his way up to the Captain of the Star Light Room at the Waldorf Astoria. Later, he owned and operated both the Village Bar and the Paris Café in Manhattan. On November 22, 1959 he married his wife Sophia. They purchased the Paris Inn in Wayne in 1973. They owned and operated the restaurant for forty-four years until its closing 2017. Paris was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Clifton. Mr. Petritsis is survived by two beloved sons, Antonio P. and his wife Stephanie and Paris P. and his wife Marti; his cherished grandson Paris S. and granddaughter Jade A.; and his loving sister, Eliana Bakours. Paris was predeceased by his devoted wife, Sophia H. (Harami) in 2014. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 4-8 pm. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday at 9:00 am at the funeral home followed by a service at 10:00 am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 818 Valley Road, Clifton which will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Balkas. Entombment will be in Garden of Memories, Washington Twsp. Memorial donations in Mr. Petritsis's name may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org
