I met Ray in a summer session at Ramapo College in the mid 90s. I was re-taking my first accounting class that I was failing miserably and dropped during my second semester of undergrad. I HATED accounting. Ray not only helped me understand accounting so that I could get accomplish the required 6 credits for my management degree - he helped in my transformation as a scholar. Soon after taking Ray's first couple of classes I changed my major to accounting. Ray supported me all through my 4 years and beyond - writing some of my first recommendations out of college. To his wife, children, and loved ones - Ray was a crucial character in my journey at a time when I needed support and direction and I'm sure you miss him dearly. My deepest condolences.

I only heard about Ray's passing yesterday. He was in my Spanish class in the early '70's. I remember a a very sweet and dear boy. I am very saddened by the news of his passing.

Kelly, I worked with Ray back in our Price Waterhouse days and he also got me a job as an adjunct at Ramapo for a while. My nephew graduated from Ramapo with an accounting degree and having Ray as a professor changed his view of how impersonal he thought professors could be. We had a lot of laughs back in Price Waterhouse days as interns and then brand-new staff. I went to FDU in Rutherford so we had the university in common. I always think of Ray having a big smile on his face and being happy. He was a lot of fun to work with. I cannot tell you how sorry I am to have just found this out via the FDU Magazine. My heart goes out to your and Ray's families.

My deepest condolences to Ray’s wife and children. I was fortunate enough to have had Ray as an accounting professor for two semesters in a row. Not only was Ray a tremendous source of information on the subject of accounting, but he offered so much knowledge to his students about life in the real world. This is by far the most valuable education that any youngster can receive. He gave 100% of his energy and effort to every single lecture, all the while injecting his unique sense of humor into that day’s lesson. Professor Rigoli, I thank you for the wealth of knowledge that you offered me and countless other students. Rest In Peace.

He was one person you were always glad to run into. I met Ray through Boy Scouts via our sons, and later on I was fortunate to see him occasionally at Dunkin Donuts, where we shared brief updates on our families. He's one of those good natured souls who was truly interested in how you and your family was doing. He will be missed.

My best memories of Ray are as a sideline basketball Dad. Through 6 years of PAL basketball to Wayne Hills and then AAU, Lindsey and Nikki and all of the teammates were blessed to have the support, the cheers, and sometimes even an outburst of Dad protection when our girls were getting thrown around the courts, Papa Bear Ray would come out with a choice comment to remind the refs just how precious the girls are too us. Ray was healthy for many memorable side line moments of fun, great nail biting wins and losses! And then no matter how sick Ray was, he did everything in his power to be there for Nikki. When the Mahler family would go skiing and Lindsey had basketball games, the Rigoli family provided a home, a family, fun and laughs and countless rides before the girls could venture on their own. Ray, you will be missed and all the memories treasured forever! We make a promise to keep going to cheer Nikki on in your memory.

Ray and I met about 18 years ago, soon after I joined the NJCPA. I was immediately impressed by this “thing” that he possessed – this thing that connected him with students. I never saw anything like it and I am not sure there is a word for it. Of course his sense of humor was infectious, maybe getting us both in trouble at times. But he instinctively knew how to talk to students of all ages. He first started visiting high schools with me and he was always the hit of the day. Students loved him and what is so crazy, they listened to him. He worked with me in setting up career fairs for college students, being the master of ceremonies. Once again, he stole the show. He worked with the Society on the scholarship program and his passion became evident. The Scholars Institute program was formed and Ray was the center of the two days. He was like the Pied Piper. No matter what I asked, he did (except if he needed to be somewhere for his kids as they were his life). Ray was one of kind, arguably one of the most compassionate, passionate educators I have ever met. He had a calling and so many students were on the receiving end. He made a lasting impression on so many of us and he will clearly be missed.

One of my favorite professors. Ray loved his job and was one of the few professors that could make accounting/auditing fun. His love for it, his kindness and of course his smile made the 3 hours/day of learning auditing principles tolerable. Rest In Peace Ray Rigoli, you will forever be missed. My condolences to the Rigoli family.

Very sad to hear that Ray's moved on too soon; the world needs more loving and happy people like Ray. I still remember jokes he told in 1980 when he and I were on our first assignment while at PW. Great sense of humor! It's fortunate that such a loving person was able to influence students beyond accounting for 35 years as an educator. My condolences to his family which was first in his heart, and followed by many.
