John J. ''Monty'' Montgomery, Jr. age 98, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at home in Little Falls. Mr. Montgomery was born in Passaic, the son of the late John Joseph and the late Sarah (Bailey) Montgomery. He was formerly of Paterson and Wayne. "Monty" served in the US Army during World War II. He was at the Battle of the Bulge where he received a Purple Heart for his heroic service. Before he retired in 1980, he was an auto worker employed by the Ford Motor Company in Mahwah. An avid car guy, he owned many Fords throughout his life. Mr. Montgomery was also a former member of Bernard Armitage Post #360 American Legion.
Mr. Montgomery was the beloved father of Randy and his wife Maryann Montgomery, loving grandfather of Randy Philip and his wife Anna Montgomery, and Janelle and her husband Joe Binetti; devoted great-grandfather of five; and dear uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Isabel (Pennycook) in 2001; and his brothers Frederick and William, and sisters Mary Smith and Ruth Ammacher.
Friends are welcome to attend the visiting hours on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 4-8 p.m.
The funeral service will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo.
There will be a private cremation.
