I have two quick stories that will always stay with me. I remember when I tried out for Little League baseball. Jeff was already in the league. The day came when we were told whether we made it. Jeff, Mr. L, my father, and I were sitting at a table. Brad Gruby, who was the coach of Burger King, informed me I had made the team. And what was my reaction? I turned to my father, as excited as I could be, and said “I’m gonna be on Jeff’s team.” Apparently Mr. Gruby was trying to tell me other things, as my father told me, but I wasn’t listening. I was on Jeff’s team. And when my Little League career was finished, Jeff was still playing. I remember attending one of his games at Dotterweich Field. I was standing just outside the gate, and I remember asking someone where Jeff was. At the exact moment I heard the crack of bat hitting ball, and seeing the ball head well over the center fielder’s head and over the fence. My reaction? Without even looking I said “Oh, there he is.” Everyone knew Jeff was one of the best athletes in our town, whether it was baseball, football, or basketball. Didn’t he set a record for free throws made. That’s the memories of Jeff I take with me wherever I go.
Mr. L, Laura, and Anthony, may God comfort you during this difficult time.
God be with you Jeff!

I only had the pleasure of meeting Jeff a few times throughout the years my family and I have known Pete and Kay, but each time was always a pleasure, and my sister and I were truly honored to attend Laura and Jeff's wedding. Pete, you are my true hero, and Nicci and I remain in awe at how well you bear up under the terrible weight of unbearable sorrow. Laura, I know how much Jeff meant to you, and with your own health problems that you faced during Jeff's illness; you should be very proud of your strength and courage, but we just feel absolutely horrible that you are such a young widow. Little Anthony, you have so much love from your entire family, not least of which from your grandfather, and we are just glad that you had your daddy as long as you did. Nicci and I love all of you, and please let us know whatever we can do to help. God bless you all!
