Obituary of Virginia Patricia Kostic

Virginia Patricia (Cimera) Kostic, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Mrs. Kostic was born in Cleveland, OH the daughter of the late Rudolph and the late Genevieve (Sepanski) Cimera. Ginny moved to New Jersey at the age of one year old, lived in East Rutherford, moving to Clifton when she was starting school. She attended No.15 elementary school, graduated Clifton High in 1946 and then went on to Newark Business School for 2 years after graduation. Ginny married Andrew Kostic in St. Paul's RC Church, Clifton in 1948. When they moved to Wayne it was mostly woods, farms with cows, and not many main streets. They did however have an airport. They lived in Wayne for over 50 years. Ginny was active in the schools her children attended. She loved the school atmosphere and being able to see her boys. She and her husband liked to travel and visited many countries throughout the world. For many years she worked in offices part-time, then full time until retiring at the age of 70 from the Passaic County Courthouse Surrogate office in 1970. She was also active in her beloved parish, Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Wayne with pastors Rev. Msgr. Stanley Schinski and Rev. Msgr. Peter J, Doody. Over the years her husband Andrew became a Deacon and that became a large part of their life until his passing. Ginny loved her Church and the activities therein. One of her favorite pastimes was caring for her flowers and gardening. All the 63 years they were married, Andy and Ginny had a cat or a dog showing their love for animals. They were also part of their family. She had a great interest in writing and poetry (kind of secret) and low-energy hiking. She adored her grandchildren and was very proud of her two sons. Mrs. Kostic is survived by two wonderful sons and their families: Andrew, Jr and his wife Liza (Maddatu) and their children Sigourney Hunter and Julien Hunter, and Jeffry R. Kostic and his wife Rim and their children, Hannah Rose and Erin Grace Elizabeth (living in the home his parents brought them up in); and her loving brother Richard and his wife Joyce. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew in 2009 and her brother Raymond. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the visiting hours on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and the funeral Mass on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary R.C. Church, 45 Urban Club Rd., Wayne. Interment will follow in Christ The King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fisher Center For Alzheimer's Research Foundation, 110 E 42nd St Fl 16, New York, NY 10017-5651 www.alzinfo.org
