Obituary of Kathryn Marie Custina Kwasnicki

Kathryn Marie Custina (Spinella) Kwasnicki lovingly known as Aunt Kay passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018. She was 99 years old. Aunt Kay was born in Garfield, NJ to Rosina and Calogero Spinella. She grew up in a large Italian family with many siblings (Frank, Joseph, Rose, Peter, Cecilia, Dominick "Eddie") that predeceased her.

After graduating Garfield High School in 1935, Kay became a grammarian and completed secretarial training. Kay started her career at Wright Aeronautical in Lodi. Following that opportunity, she worked as a secretary to colonels in the US Army. Her brother Frank introduced Kay to her husband, John Kwasnicki. After living in Florida, the couple settled in Matawan, NJ where she was a homemaker and volunteer at the local elementary school's reading program and at her church's religious education classes. Kay enjoyed reading, swimming, dancing, travel and eating massive amounts of sweets!

Later in life, Aunt Kay moved to Wayne to be closer to her many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed watching their children grow into amazing adults. She will be buried with her family at Calvary Cemetery in Paterson, NJ.
