Obituary of Edmund Beattie

Edmund Beattie, age 86, died Sunday, February 11, 2018 in North Richmond Hills, Texas. Mr. Beattie was born May 24, 1931 in Paterson, NJ the son of the late Matthew and the late Perie (DeVisser) Beattie. He grew up on Riverview Drive in Totowa and lived in North Richland Hills, Texas, Melbourne, FL and Fairfield, NJ. After the untimely death of his sister, Margaret in 1947, Ed joined the US Navy where he worked as a millwright on two destroyer escorts. After the Navy, Ed married Eleanor B. Combee, from Fairfield and they had three children. He retired in 1966 from Titanium Industry, Fairfield and Union Carbide Wayne, NJ where he was a maintenance mechanic was before moving to Melbourne, Florida. He is survived by his Loving children: Edmund M., Carol Selbiger and David. His dear siblings: Perie Smith and John and Matthew Beattie. He was also the devoted grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor, in 2014 and his sister, Margaret. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at the funeral home. A memorial service will be celebrated by Pastor Louis Rodriguez at 10:30 am. Burial of his cremated remains will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
