Obituary of Dorothy M. DeGennaro
Dorothy DeGennaro passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018. Born in Manhattan, later moving to West Islip, NY; Davenport, FL; and living her last 5 years Wayne, she was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Krug) Griebling. Dorothy was very much dedicated to her church, serving on the Vestry; the Altar Guild; as a Choir Mother; in Prayer groups; and managing the Church Thrift Store to raise funds for her parish at St Mark's Episcopal in Haines City, FL. She was a champion swimmer in high school and never lost her love for the water, spending many hours at the beach, on boats, and in later years, fishing in the Florida Keys. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed making crafts for her family and friends.
Dorothy leaves behind her 5 children, Elizabeth Pfeiffer and her husband Charles, Thomas and his wife Rosette, Richard and his wife Judy, Dorothy DeGennaro-Schlenger, and Edward and his wife Bonnie; three grandchildren, Kyle, Samantha and Nicholas; and her sister Lois Rogers.
She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Thomas.
Friends are welcome to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a service at 7:00 p.m.
