Obituary of Henry H. Kirchner
Henry Harding Kirchner, 91, of Fair Lawn died Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
Henry was born to the late Edward and the late Eva (Harding) Kirchner, June 24, 1922 in Clifton. Henry, nicknamed Bud, graduated from Clifton High School and attended New Jersey Teachers College in Paterson. He married the late Jean Scott in November, 1944, and they lived together in Fair Lawn for 68 years.
Henry was a contract administrator for Curtiss Wright, CML Macarr Inc., Marine Electric RPD Inc. and Plessey Dynamic Inc. until he retired in 1987 and was passionate about his work. He was past president of the North Jersey Chapter of the National Contract Management Association. He served in the US Army during WWII and was honorably discharged February, 1946.
Henry was an active member of Warren Point Presbyterian Church in Fair Lawn for many years and served on the Board of Trustees. As a member of the Happy Seniors Club in Fair Lawn, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and many activities with their friends. He was an avid sports fan of the Giants, Mets and Yankees. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and archery.
Henry is survived by two daughters and their spouses: Gail and Ron Wood and Carol and Ray Mei. He has four grandchildren: Kristin and Bret Werner, Scott and Jessica Wood, Jennifer and Phil Tartaglia, and Lauren and Mike Gray. He was loved by six great-grandchildren: Amber and Matthew Werner, Boden and Cooper Wood Rylee Gray, and Sabrina Tartaglia. Henry was predeceased by wife, Jean Harriett (Scott) in 2010, and his brother, Chester Kirchner.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 am at the funeral home will be celebrated by Rev. Jeffery N. Leininger.
Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
