I sent a condolence/candle earlier that contained an error. I should have mentioned the team name as the "JETS", but made an error and wrote Lucky Strikes. I guess that comes with age. Don will have to forgive my error.

Am unable to pay my respects in person, so I am offering my condolences to the family in writing. Don was a very nice person, very pleasant and a joy to Bowl with at T-Bowl Friday nights in the OLV League. I bowled on the Lucky Strikes with Don and John for over 30 years before they both retired from league bowling.

John and Bill, So sad to learn about your father's death. Both he and your mother were just terrific people--always so warm and welcoming. He was a fantastic host in recent years when we would make our various trips to MSG for Villanova games. Always had a great meal for us--and wonderful stories. I'm sure you will all miss him so much, but I know you have many great memories to carry you through. Tim Brosnan (Steve's friend)

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Merritt. Don, as we liked to call him behind his back, was a terrific man and a wonderful human being. He was my Scoutmaster in Boy Scouts and I truly learned a great deal of what it is to be a good man from him.

It was with great sadness that we learned of Don's passing. On behalf of all of the members of the Golden Age Circle of Wayne I would like to express our sincere condolences. Many of us here knew Don personally through bowling and social events. We will truly miss him. He will never be forgotten, may his soul rest in peace.
