Obituary of Thomas James Nagy

Thomas James Nagy, age 75, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017. He was born March 2, 1942 in Passaic, the son of the late John and the late Marie (Ostrowski) Nagy. Formerly of Wallington Mr. Nagy lived in Wayne for 49 years. He was a Military Policeman in the US Army during the Vietnam War. In 2000, Mr. Nagy retired from Hoffmann La Roche in Nutley where he was an accountant.

Tom loved coaching his son in different sports. Because he knew a lot about everything, he could fix just about anything. Tom was a woodworker, he enjoyed fishing and he loved visiting the farm in upstate NY.

Thomas Nagy, also known as his Lordship Sir Thomas or Gorgeous Grandpapa, will fondly be remembered by all who met him. From waitresses to his grandkids and neighbors, Tom cracked jokes about not being able to "rub 2 nickels together" and told stories about his "Friday afternoon meetings" during happy hour. A seat next to Tom was always a good time – whether he was wearing his eyepatch or not.

Our voicemails will remain full with "Tommy's Tip for Today" and questions about what we ate for dinner that night. A tall glass of scotch and soda cheers to Tom Nagy, may heaven be full of 2 eggs over easy, home fries and a rasher of bacon.

Mr. Nagy is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia (Gugala) Nagy; his loving children, Sue and her husband Tim Padva; Amy and her husband Tim Barbera and Steven Nagy; his cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Katie and Matthew Padva, Emily, Andrew, Lilly and Grant Barbera; his sister Janice and her husband George Doyle, and his brother-in-law Vincent Intindola.

Friends are welcome to attend the memorial service on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 3:30 pm at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 1-3:30 pm on Saturday before the service.

There was a private cremation.
