Obituary of George Robert Van Way
George Robert Van Way, age 93, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Cedar Crest Village, Pequannock Twsp. Mr. Van Way was born March 19, 1923 in Totowa, NJ the son of the late George and the late Amelia (Thompson) Van Way. He lived in Totowa most of his life until moving to Pompton Plains. George served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant during World War II and received two purple hearts. He was a milk man employed by Franklin Lakes Dairy and retired from the US Post Office, Paterson, where he was a Letter Carrier for over 30 years. George was a former member of Totowa United Methodist church and also of the Mt. View Masonic Lodge # 154.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gladys (Thomas) Van Way in November, 2016 and his sisters: Ruth and Dorothy.
He is survived by his son: Robert and his wife Georgeann Van Way, his grandson, Dave and his wife Lisa Van Way, his granddaughter, Carrie and her husband Peter Gregory and 3 great-grandchildren, Jenna, Alexander and Anastasia.
At the request of the family all services will be private.
