Obituary of Sandra Marlene (Whitney) Stern

Sandra Marlene (Whitney) Stern, age 63, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at Chilton Medical Center, of complications from colon cancer. She was 63. Born in Plainfield, she was a long time resident of Oak Ridge. Her parents were Alva Whitney, Jr. and Dorothy B. (Benson) Whitney. After working as a clothing buyer for Rowe Manse, Inc. of Clifton, she became a customer support specialist with GAF for 21 years and retired in January, 2015. She was a graduate of Nutley High School, and then of the Berkeley School (now Berkeley College). An animal lover, she especially enjoyed horseback riding. Sandra is survived by her loving sister, Annette Rahn (Frank) of Palo Alto, CA; her dear brother, Alva Whitney, III of Palm Coast, FL; two devoted nephews, Joseph and Christopher Rahn; and her good friend and constant support, Joseph Stern, of Oak Ridge. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, at Hazel Wood Cemetery, 64 Lake Ave, Colonia, NJ.
