Obituary of Esther M. Nicola

Esther M. (Caradonna) Nicola, age 83, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at home in Riverdale. Mrs. Nicola was born May 7, 1930 in Waldwick, the daughter of the late Frank and the late Josephine (Vincenti) Caradonna. Mrs. Nicola was a graduate of St. Luke's High School and Sherwood Business School. She was an administrative secretary for many years at Cigna Insurance in Wayne, retiring in 1995. Before moving to Riverdale, Mrs. Nicola and her husband lived in Wayne for 43 years. They were founding members of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church and Mrs. Nicola sang in the choir for over 40 years. Mrs. Nicola never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a wonderful wife to her husband of 63 years and a very caring and attentive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She would do anything for any of them. Mrs. Nicola was the beloved wife of John Nicola; loving mother of John J. and his wife Marie Nicola; Jody Nicola, Patricia and her husband Bruce Vendola, and Mary Halka; devoted grandmother of Michael, Elizabeth, Evelyn and Stanley; caring great-grandmother of Andrew and Anthony; dear sister of Frank and John Caradonna; and aunt of many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will be Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home and Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke, Wayne will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Nicola's name may be made to Our Lady of Consolation R.C.
