Obituary of Thomas Mgerack
Thomas Mgerack, age 81, died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital, Wayne. Thomas was born in Paterson on December 27, 1934, the son of the late Thomas, Sr. and the late Anna (Makowsky) Mgerack, and raised in Lincoln Park. He met his wife in 1954, they were married in 1964, and resided in Wayne for 50 years. Thomas was active volunteering with his wife at the Wayne P.A.L., working the kitchen for events such as flea markets, train shows, baseball games, and summer camp. One of his favorite things to do was to play Santa at the P.A.L. Christmas events. He was also the assistant soccer coach for 30 years with his wife, and was known as "the man in the corner" because that is where he stood at every game.
Thomas was employed by Crown Cork and Seal in North Bergen as a forklift mechanic, retiring in 1994. His love for cars and motors rubbed off on his sons Thomas S., and Michael. Over the years, they owned many classic cars, and he spent countless hours working on them with his sons.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, June (Bonafide) Mgerack; his sons Thomas S. and Michael; his brother John; sister-in-law Mary Ann Faustina; and many nieces and nephews.
