Obituary of Richard Arthur Starkey

Richard Arthur Starkey, age 65, of Ridgeland, SC, formerly of Pompton Plains, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 in Savannah, GA. Richard was born in Paterson, the son of the late H. Arthur and the late Hazel (Davenport) Starkey on March 25, 1951. He attended Paterson Central High School and worked in insurance sales most of his life. He loved gardening, fishing, his dogs and spending time with his family. Richard is survived by his beloved children, Richard A. Starkey II, Jessica A. (Keith) Stock, Lori (Louis) Fitamant, and Christopher (Melissa) Weninger; four much loved grandchildren, Elizabeth, Aidan, Sawyer and Hudson; and his loving sister Sharon (Patrick) Hart, and brother Roger A. (Fran) Starkey. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Rita M. (Walsh) Starkey and parents, H. Arthur and Hazel Starkey. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Michael McKay.
