Obituary of Kathleen Rita Celine Lacey

Kathleen (Comerford) Rita Celine Lacey, age 82, died peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Preakness Health Care Center, Wayne. Mrs. Lacey was born May 16, 1931 in Newark, NJ the daughter of the late John and the late Mary Ellen (Bennis) Comerford. She lived in Wayne and was formerly of Kearny and Carlstadt. She was one of 15 children - 13 girls and 2 boys and all of the girls were Irish step dancers. Mrs. Lacey studied in London with Vidal Sassoon and later with the Chadwick's in NJ. She was a Beautician employed by Bamberger's Salon in Paramus and later owned and operated Lacey's Beauty on Wheels. She won numerous awards at the New York hair shows. Mrs. Lacey was a devoted catholic and former member of St. Joseph's RC Church, Carlstadt. She was a very kind and generous women - giving back to her community by giving haircuts free of charge for the less fortunate. She is survived by her three daughters: Dianne and her husband Joe Vitale, Donna Lacey and her husband Peter Benvenuto and Darra and her husband Bobby Jordan, her son: Daniel and his wife Gina Lacey, three sisters: Phyllis Murray, Bernadette Kuzik, and Geraldine Cates, 9 grandchildren: Christina, Joseph, Jr., Kathleen, Tierney, Robbie, Jr., Adare, Danielle, Daniel, and Gianna and 4 great grandchildren: Nicholas, Alexander, Alanna & Liam. She was predeceased by her granddaughter: Lacey Marie Benvenuto, 9 sisters and 2 brothers. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. The funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke., Wayne will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Hanover.
