Obituary of Helen M. Vermiglio

Helen M. (Picco) Vermiglio, age 94, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at home in Wayne. Mrs. Vermiglio was born June 8, 1921 in West Paterson, the daughter of the late Anthony and the late Ermelinda (Sita) Picco. She lived in Wayne since 1958. Helen was a graduate of William Paterson College and was an elementary school teacher in West Paterson and later in Haskell for 38 years before retiring in 1986. She was a parishioner of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church. Helen was active in Parents without Partners and also THEO. She was also a member of the Passaic County Retired Teachers Association. Helen is survived by her beloved daughters: Carol and her husband David Steinberg, and Kathy and her husband Douglas Trethaway; and her loving grandchildren, Jason, Tracy, Matthew, Allison and Amy. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas. Visiting hours will be Tuesday March 1, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10:00 am at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary R.C. Church, 45 Urban Club Rd., Wayne and will be celebrated by Msgr. Peter J. Doody. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.
