Obituary of Sebastian J. Lagerveld, Jr.

Sebastian J. "Junior" Lagerveld, Jr., age 85, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick Township. Mr. Lagerveld was born January 9, 1931 in Paterson, the son of the late Sebastian and the late Nellie (Vander Kloster) Lagerveld. He moved to Point Pleasant in 1968. Mr. Lagerveld retired over 20 years ago from Point Pleasant Hospital, where he worked in housekeeping. Previously he was a chef at the hospital, and before that, a chef at Meyer Brothers Restaurant in Paterson. He enjoyed photography and developed his own photographs. Carpentry, apprenticing with his father, was also a hobby. Mr. Lagerveld was very devoted to his family. Mr. Lagerveld is survived by his loving sister Joan Mac Leod; and his devoted nieces and nephew, Debbie Walther, Louetta MacLeod, Robert MacLeod, Joanne MacLeod, Carol Youmans Rabel and Jean Youmans. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Marie Youmans. Visiting hours will be Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 9-10:30 a.m. The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and will be celebrated by Pastor Karl Records. Interment will follow in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
