Obituary of James William Murty
James William Murty, age 64, of Wayne on Sunday, December 27, 2015 surrounded by his loving family with his favorite song playing.
Born in Greenwich, CT to the late Maryknoll and Lloyd Murty, the family moved to Wayne in 1965. Jim was employed for over 30 years until 2001 at the Clarkwood Corp, Totowa, NJ earning his journeyman's card in the printing industry. He then went on to work for The Home Depot in Riverdale, NJ as a customer service representative for the past 12 years.
Jim was an avid musician, self-taught guitarist with a love of nature and also developed an expertise in gardening and plants. Following the Rangers, Giants and Yankees was a must and a big Sci-Fi fan as well.
He met his wife in the fall of 1975 and it was the start of 40 years of togetherness. They married in October 1978 at St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York City and honeymooned in Tahiti, a trip of a life time.
Jim loved home, watching sports and sitting on his deck enjoying seeing the woods, walkers, animals and the brook.
A member of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary R.C. Church, he was a former Little League coach in Wayne.
Beloved husband of Jilayne E. (Lynch) Murty, father of Justin M. and Jocelyn E. Murty. Dear brother of Elizabeth Schmidt and her family in CT. Caring brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many.
The family will receive their friends on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 3-7pm and on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 11:30-12:00 Noon at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary R. C. Church, 45 Urban Club Road, Wayne, NJ followed by Mass at 12:00 Noon in celebration of Jim's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to Annunciation Church. Jim would love it if you take time to listen to music that brings you joy.
