Obituary of Nora Elaine Wikander
Nora Wikander, age 70, died Saturday, October 17, 2015. Nora was born in Paterson, the daughter of the late August and the late Marie (Paulin) Windeler. She lived in Mount Tabor. Nora graduated from Ramapo High before attending and graduating from Hackensack School of Nursing. She worked as a floor nurse, nursing team leader and charge nurse at Paterson General Hospital and St. Joseph Wayne Hospital. In 1984, she accepted a position as the Director of Central Service/Sterile Processing at St. Joseph Wayne where she retired in 2011. She was active in the field of Sterile Processing as a member and officer of the NJ CSA, one of the authors of the American Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Sterilization documents utilized all over the united States and was an editor of the textbook The Basics of Sterile Processing. She was actively involved with the education of sterile processing personnel. Nora also served as a Board Member and chairperson of the continuing education committee of the National Institute for the Certification of Sterile Processing Personnel since its inception in 1991. She loved visiting Disney World and cheering on the NY Giants football team.
Nora is survived by her brother August Windeler; and her loving nieces and nephews Michael Windeler, Sr., Michael J. Windeler, Jr., Heidi Howe, Wendy Stanley, Mary Ann Beauchene, Amy David; and her dear friend, Tam Maresca. Nora was predeceased by her husband David Wikander.
Visiting will be on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. There will be a service at 8:30 p.m celebrated by Rev. Michael McKay.
Cremation is private.
