Obituary of Robert Ward Vreeland

Robert Ward Vreeland, age 92, of Oakland and Ft. Lauderdale passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 at home. Mr. Vreeland was born June 5, 1923 in Paterson, the son of the late James and the late Jennie (Krieger) Vreeland. He then lived in Wayne before moving to Oakland 50 years ago. He wintered in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with his wife. Mr. Vreeland was the founder and president of Mal Rob Realty Co. He was an employee of Public Service Transport and NJ Transit for 42 years before retiring in 1986. Mr. Vreeland was a past master of Genesis Masonic Lodge # 88 F.&A.M. of Pompton Lakes. He was an exempt fireman of Preakness Fire Co #4, Wayne Township and also past member and treasurer of Union Avenue Baptist Church, Paterson for over 20 years. Mr. Vreeland was the beloved husband of 68 years of Malvina E. (Sanders) ; loving father of Malvina L. and her husband Raymond Zylstra and Roberta R. MacDonald; devoted grandfather of Sarah and her husband Jim McCaffrey, Malvina L. and her husband Dione Bowlding, Amy and her husband Mike Ferm, Victoria and her husband Johnny Snipes, and Shawn Albro and his wife Kelly and dear friend Andy Ghokeh; great-grandfather of Jonathan,Christopher,Brandon,Madison, Alyssa, Kristin, Emilie, Kaylyn,Jonathan, Marshall, Derek, Axsel, Summer, Mikey and Natalie; and dear uncle of Joseph Brown and his wife Loretta and Sam Brown, and his Goddaughter, Patricia Mastomonico. He'll also be missed by his beloved dog Charlie. Visiting on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7:30 pm.
