Obituary of Ralph Stafford Doubleday
Ralph Stafford Doubleday, Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack. Mr. Doubleday was born May 5, 1929 in Milford, NJ the son of the late Ralph Stafford and the late Anne (Seinecke) Doubleday, Sr. He was raised in Millburn, NJ, graduated from Syracuse University and most recently lived in Wanaque. Ralph was known by his friends as "Doub" or "Doubs".
A retired Mechanical Engineer, Ralph designed components that flew in the Apollo space program and a variety of other aerospace applications. He also designed, built and flew model airplanes. Ralph was a motorsports enthusiast and enjoyed driving and maintaining a variety of British sports cars throughout his life, passions he passed on to his children. He also was an avid bowler.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Jean Mary (Kepler) Doubleday; his 3 loving children, Alan and his wife Denyce, Geoffrey and his wife Karen, and Kimberly and her husband Charles Musumeci; and 5 cherished grandchildren, Alex, Ashley, Salvatore (CJ), Geoffrey and Christian.
Visiting will be on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's RC Church, 17 Pompton Ave, Pompton Lakes.
Interment will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery in Springfield, NJ.
