Obituary of Herbert J. Smith, Sr.

Herbert J. Smith, Sr., age 87, died Friday, April 3, 2015 at Chilton Medical Center, Pequannock Twsp. Mr. Smith, Sr. was born April 28, 1927 in Paterson, the son of the late Joseph and the late Jean (White) Smith. He lived in Wayne since 1952. Mr. Smith served in the US Navy as a Fireman First Class from 1945 to 1946. He retired in 1989 from PSE&G where he was a lineman in Paterson and Clifton. Mr. Smith is survived by his loving children, Patricia Kist, Mary Swavola, Herbert J. Smith, Jr. and Joseph Smith; and his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Kist, and Kristen, Matthew, Andrew and Jessica Smith. He was predeceased by his wife Jessie (Kuiken). A memorial Mass at St. Mary's R.C. Church will be celebrated on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 10:00am. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's R.C. Church, 17 Pompton Ave, Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442
