Obituary of Antoinette Resvanis
Antoinette (Butera) Resvanis, age 92, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Chilton Medical Center, Pequannock Twsp., NJ. Ann was born May 17, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Calogero and the late Maria (Pace) Butera. She lived in Wayne since 1961 and raised her two daughters and also helped raise her cherished grandson. A working mother long before her time, Ann supplemented the income she didn't generate as an unpaid singing grocery shopper ( because they do it in the movies) as a bookkeeper for car dealerships in Brooklyn and Queens, NY, at several clothing manufacturers in Passaic, NJ and finally at Christine Valmy in Pinebrook, NJ. An avid cook, Ann was happiest when her home was filled with music (especially Jimmy Roselli and Emil Pandolfi), friends and family eating her food, playing a hand or 20 of poker, and laughing at her risqué jokes. Mrs. Resvanis was a former member of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church.
She is survived by her two daughters: Teresa and her husband Steven Baber of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Carla and daughter in law Alice Wassmann of Gardiner, NY; a nephew, Ralph Fraumeni and his wife Joyce, a niece, Linda Finn and a great-nephew, William Finn, all of Long Island, NY. She was predeceased by her grandson, Christopher.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Ann's life will be offered on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke., Wayne and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo.
Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
The family would like to thank the nursing and support staff at Llanfair House who went out of their way to care for Ann as their own family, particularly, Joseph Luc, Cathy DiBlasio, Sandra Santana, Marlene Cejour, Mawa Whern, Maryse Etienne and Mary St. Jen.
