Obituary of Leonard De Blaker, Sr.

Leonard De Blaker, Sr., age 89, died suddenly on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Newton Medical Center, Newton. Mr. De Blaker was born January 20, 1926 in Paterson, NJ the son of the late Harold and the late Juliette (Moreau) De Blaker. He lived in Franklin and was formerly of Little Falls and Totowa. Len served in the US Army Infantry during World War II and was a land mine diffuser under the command of General George Patton. Len's first job was working as a mechanic for his grandfather and fathers' business - DeBlakers Riding Devices, later he worked as a machinist for Mosler Safe Co. in Wayne until retiring. Mr. De Blaker was a former member of St. James of the Marches R.C. Church, Totowa He is survived by his wife: Gloria (Iorlano) De Blaker, three daughters: Linda and her husband Ray DiMuro, Janis and her husband Rob Vaglio and Debbie and her husband Steve Pittman and two sons: Len, Jr. and his companion, Amy Catchouny and James and his wife Diane Dowd, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his 1st wife, Anna (De Alesandro). Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke., Wayne and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
