Obituary of John C. Van Riper

John C. Van Riper, Jr., age 82, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Hospice of New Jersey, Wayne. Mr. Van Riper was born June 20, 1932 in Passaic, the son of the late John C. and the late Isabel Boyd (Skinner) Van Riper, Sr. He lived in Wayne and was a graduate of Steven's Institute of Technology. Mr. Van Riper was a retired mechanical engineer employed most recently by Tele Dynamics in New Foundland, and previously by Mosler in Wayne and General Automotive in Carlstadt. He was a member of the Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Paterson. Mr. Van Riper is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Betty Ann (DeBoer) Van Riper; his loving children, Leslie and her husband Pastor James Hollandsworth; Richard and his wife Carolyn, and James and his wife Diana; 11 cherished grandchildren; and his dear siblings, Sue Ellen Oster and Edwin Van Riper. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be celebrated by Rev. James Hollandsworth. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson. Memorial donations in Mr. Van Riper's name may be made to Solid Rock Baptist Church Missions, 1574 Glenwood Rd, Rt. 565, Sussex, NJ 07461-4009
