Obituary of Veronica F. Kelly
Veronica (Ronnie) Kelly passed away on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ with her family at her side. Veronica was born on February 19, 1944 at home in the Bronx, NY and lived in Wayne. She was raised by her mother Anne Kiernan with her brothers Jimmy and William and her sisters Theresa and Katherine. She was the mother of five children: Andrew, Anne, Christopher, Jennifer and Shannon.
Veronica taught her daughters to be strong and independent and she taught her sons to be kind and nurturing.
Veronica began her career as a store detective at Bamburger's and Macy's before joining Wayne Police as a Wayne Special Police Officer. She became the first female licensed Private Eye in the state of New Jersey.
Veronica's love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren transcended the norm. She was actively involved with them and played a central role in all of their lives. She adored them very much. Her grandchildren Michael, Luke, Chelsea, Zachary, Chloe, Tony, Jessica, Shane, Samantha and Sadie were greatly loved as were her great-grandchildren Calyx, Cameron and Mia.
Ronnie and George met and fell in love in the Bronx in April of 1959. According to George she was wearing a blue-green paisley blouse and white pleated skirt but all he could see was her magnificent blue eyes. George always said she was the kindest, most tender and genteel person he ever knew. Ronnie and George were married for 49 years.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral Mass will be Monday at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke., Wayne and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo.
