I only just learned of Mrs. Liu's passing. I will always know her as Mrs. Liu. I began violin lessons with her when I was 6 years old, in 1981 when my family moved to NY. She was a big part of my childhood and I will never forget her. My sincerest condolences to her family and all those who loved her.

I'm sorry to learn of Pat's death. I knew her from her Detroit days, when she studied with my dad, Mischa Mischakoff. I drove her to Massachusetts one summer when she and I had jobs there, and had a good long talk with her en route.

Were deeply sorry for the loss of Mrs. Liu. She impacted so many lives and has been important to our life as well. She was not only a sister or mother but she was also a teacher, a teacher we will cheerish and never forget. Our condolences to Mrs. Liu's family.

To the Family of Miss Liu, We are deeply sorry for the loss of our beloved Miss Liu. Our two kids were learning a lot from her for a long time. Miss Liu was a wonderful role model for all of us and she will be missed by our entire family.

My deepest sympathy to Patricia's family and friends. In this tragedy, William Paterson University has lost a warm-hearted and loyal supporter. Dr. and Mrs. Chao had long been engaged and generous members of our community. I was so pleased to see Patricia just last month at our annual scholarship recognition dinner. She will be missed.

To the Family who has lost Mrs. Patricia Anne Liu Chao: We offer our family's sincere condolences to the family for the loss of beloved Mrs. Chao. Words cannot express enough the sadness we have felt. Gwendolyn Shaffer, our daughter, has been Mrs. Chao's violin student for 8 years since she was only 5. We remember how she started with Mrs. Chao's patient and kind teaching. We remember Mrs. Chao coming into Flushing giving lessons every Tuesday and Saturday, no matter how severe the weather was and how inconvenient the commute was. We remember every concert when Mrs. Chao always busied herself tuning violins for the kids, so keenly watching kids playing on stage, and never hesitating encouraging and complementing kids for their performances. We also remember the dinners, coffees, laughters and thoughts we enjoyed together. She was like family to us. Our hearts are heavy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and we wish you peace. I will very much miss my friend and colleague Patricia. She was such a lady, in the truest sense of the word...kind, gentle, accomplished. She renewed my interest in classical music 30 years ago. Pat you are in a better place, but you left us too soon. We will miss you.
