Obituary of Elsie Rascio

Elsie (Bernatovich) Rascio, age 92, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in her home with her family by her side. Mrs. Rascio was born on September 5, 1919 in Hazelton, PA, the daughter of the late John and the late Helen (Buble) Bernatovich. Elsie lived in Paterson and was co-owner and manager of Frank's Market located on Crosby Ave. in Paterson. Along with her beloved late husband Frank, they built a unique produce business that flourished and attracted customers from all areas of Paterson. Elsie's gentle spirit and cheerful attitude will never be forgotten. Elsie and Frank were members of the Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Paterson where she became noted as the candy lady for she always had a purse full of candy to give to children and seniors every Sunday. She leaves a legacy of always being there with an outstanding positive attitude for her family and many friends. She was rewarded with admiration and love by all that came to know her. Elsie was the beloved wife of 73 years of the late Frank Rascio who died in May 2011. She is survived by her loving children Carl and his wife Alice Rascio, Joyce and her husband Tom Sponzilli; her cherished grandchildren Mark, Lauren, Brenda, and Guy; her cherished great-grandchildren Jessica, Stefan, Joshua, Jared, Nicholas, Karina, and Rachel; great-great grandchildren Nicolas and Elijah; and her dear brother Bernard Bernatovich. All services are private at the request of the family.
