Obituary of Eleanor D. Scala

Eleanor D. (Cortese) Scala, age 92, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Chilton Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. Mrs. Scala was born February 16, 1920 in Paterson, the daughter of the late Michael and the late Mary (George) Cortese. She was a homemaker and lived in Paterson all of her life, moving to Wayne 10 years ago. Mrs. Scala is survived by her beloved children, Albert J. and his wife Roxanne Scala, Georgianne Di Chiara and Sandra Scala; her devoted grandchildren, Jennifer Di Chiara, Johanna Di Chiara, Jason, Jonathan and Alicyn Scala and Davina Rasa; her cherished great-grandchildren, Harper and Quinn Kudela, Arianna and Julian Rossi, and Connor, Brielle and Addison Scala; her dear sister: Katherine (Kate) Marinari; many nieces and nephews; and a wonderful caregiver, Donna. She was predeceased by her husband George J. and her siblings, Anthony, Peter and Vincent Cortese, Palma Melone and Irene Andreano. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday September 8, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home and Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke, Wayne will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Lombardo. Entombment will be in Laurel Grove Mausoleum, Totowa.
