Obituary of Florence Marie Matera

Florence Marie Matera, age 91, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. Ms. Matera was born May 4, 1920 in New York City, NY the daughter of the late Dr. Joseph and the late Florence (Zanelli) Matera. She lived in Wayne for 17 years and was formerly of Hoboken and Ft. Lee. She retired from teaching at Hoboken High School in 1982 after 36 years there. Ms. Matera was a member of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, the Hoboken Retired Teachers Association, and the National Retired Teachers Assoc. Ms. Matera is survived by her beloved sister Olga R. Manolio; and many dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and Joseph Matera. Visiting hours will be Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be Friday, May 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Queens, NY. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Queens.
