Obituary of Catherine M Desch

Catherine M (Herzig) Desch, age 95, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at home in Wayne. Mrs. Desch was born October 31, 1916 in Newark, the daughter of the late Fred and the late Katherine (Mueller) Herzig. She lived in Wayne and was formerly of Hillside. Before retiring, she was a bank officer at Midlantic National Bank in Edison. Previously, she was an elementary school teacher at Christ the King School in Hillside, and Past President of the Rosary Altar Society there. She was Past Vice President of the Business & Professional Women's Organization, Hillside Chapter. Mrs. Desch was a member of Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church and attended of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church in Wayne. Mrs. Desch is survived by her beloved sons John A., Jr. (Jack) and his wife Irene L. (Lucky) and Robert and his wife Peggy; her loving grandchildren, Adrienne, Melissa, Megan, Brian and Robert J., and great-grandchildren, Isabella, Xzavier and Natalia and her dear sister Helen Mullin. She was predeceased by her husband, the former Mayor of Hillside, John A. Desch in 1966. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Lombardo. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
