Obituary of George J. Mitchell

George J. Mitchell, Jr., age 80, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Atrium at Wayne. Mr. Mitchell was born December 20, 1930 in Paterson the son of the late George J. and the late Mary (Howard) Mitchell. He lived in Wayne. Mr. Mitchell served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post # 227, Totowa. He retired from Metro Fuel Oil Co in Hackensack, where he was an oil burner serviceman. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dolores (Maffei) Mitchell and his loving sons George J., III and Brian. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and will be celebrated by Pastor Robert Smith.
