Obituary of Marion Margaret Kamper
Marion Margaret Kamper (Van Der Brook) died at her daughters home in Dingmans Ferry, Pa. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at age 90. Marion lived most of her adult life in Wayne, NJ. Marion was a dedicated mother to her five children. She was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Mountain View Chapter. She was also a school crossing guard for the Wayne Township Board of Education for many years. Previously, Marion worked as a banquet waitress at the Rustic Lodge in Elmwood Park for many years. After retiring, Marion volunteered at The Foundation for the Handicapped in Wayne. Her passions included working in her flower and vegetable gardens, knitting, crocheting and needlepoint work.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter Kamper Jr. in 1994.
Marion is the daughter of the late Dinah and Peter Van Der Brook, Dear sister of Eleanor Schweighardt of Punta Gorda, FL, and the late Grace Varcadipane, and Fredrick and John Van Der Brook. Marion was the loving mother of Marion and her husband John Cannella of Punta Gorda, FL; Beverly Hill of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; Kenneth and his wife Robin of Highland Lakes, NJ; Dennis and his wife Ann of Cordova, TN; Peter Jay and his wife Wendy of Wayne, NJ. Devoted grandmother of 10 wonderful grandchildren and 8 wonderful great-grandchildren. Marion is also survived by 2 loving Godchildren, Diane Jacunski of Hamburg, N.J. and Nora Schmittauer of Seminole, FL along with many loving nieces and nephews, including Eugene Doove who resides in The Netherlands. She was a special person to each of her family, individually as well as collectively. She will be truly missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral service on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 10:30am at Moore's Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Road, Wayne. Visiting on Tuesday from 2 - 4 PM and 7-9PM. Interment at Laurel Grove Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Marion's favorite charity which was The Foundation for the Handicapped, 30 Woodridge Terrace, Wayne, NJ 07470 or the Karen Ann Quinlan Memorial Foundation, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860, who recently helped with Marion's care.
