Obituary of Richard C. Gumbinger
Richard C. Gumbinger, age 82, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at home. Mr. Gumbinger was born July 6, 1928 in Queens, NY the son of the late Charles and the late Gertrude (Hermann) Gumbinger. He lived in Whiting and was formerly of Binghamton, NY, Wayne and Toms River. Mr. Gumbinger earned a BA from Ryder College in Trenton. He was a journalist for the Herald News in Paterson before retiring. Mr. Gumbinger was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War, a member of VFW Post 6063 in Toms River and American Legion Post 502 in Whiting. He also belonged to AARP and the Democratic Committee of Passaic and Ocean Counties.
Mr. Gumbinger is survived by his beloved sons: Richard and his wife Mary, Keith and his wife Loreen and Jon Gumbinger; his 5 cherished grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and his loving companion, Lillian Gut. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Kent) in 1980.
The visiting will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with a service at 8:00 p.m. that will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Hartney.
