Obituary of Muriel J. Barbarito

Muriel J. (Butte) Barbarito, age 91, died Saturday, February 19, 2011. Mrs. Barbarito was born November 19, 1919 in Passaic, the daughter of the late Peter S. and the late Marion (Tilton) Butte. She was a longtime resident of Paterson, graduating from Central High School before moving to Wayne. Mrs. Barbarito worked in various clerical positions, including Clarkwood Industries in Totowa, before retiring. In her younger years she was active in music, performing as a lyric soprano in concerts and churches. Later in life she volunteered at Preakness HealthCare Center in Wayne, entertaining the residents with her singing. Mrs. Barbarito was a former longtime member of Central Reformed Church in Paterson. Mrs. Barbarito is survived by her loving children Janet Barbarito and James Louis Barbarito and her 4 devoted grandchildren and 5 cherished great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, former Paterson police officer Louis Barbarito in 1951. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:30 am at the funeral home and will be celebrated by Rev. Michael McKay. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa. Memorial donations in Mrs. Barbarito's name may be made to Preakness HealthCare Center, 305 Oldham Rd, Wayne, NJ 07470-2208
