Obituary of Josephine Evans

Josephine (Koodray) Evans, age 98, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Regency Gardens Nursing Center, Wayne. Ms. Evans was born October 17, 1912 in Aleppo, Syria, the daughter of the late Bashire and the late Mary (Akaway) Koodray. At the age of two, her family moved to Rhode Island. She also lived in Paterson and Clifton before moving to Wayne. Ms. Evans was a cosmetics sales person at Quackenbush's in Paterson, Bamberger's in Paramus and Charles Pharmacy in Fair Lawn, retiring in 1995 as a crossing guard in Clifton. Ms. Evans is survived by her loving nephews and nieces: Joseph, Allan, George, Albert, Rodney, Denise, Claudette and Marilyn. She was predeceased by her dear sister Alice and her late husband Thomas DiMartino. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo.
